|OXFORD PHYSICAL THERAPY TRAINING TIP:|Spring Sports Tip: Concussion Information
In efforts to protect young athletes, the State of Ohio has passed a concussion law, commonly called the "Return to Play" law. This law, similar to laws enacted in most other states, imposes training, safety, and awareness requirements on youth sports organizations, like OSYSA, and its leagues, tournaments, coaches, referees, officials, and athletes and their families.
A concussion is a minor traumatic brain injury caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head. Concussions can also be caused from a blow to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth. Even what seems to be a mild bump to the head can be serious. Oxford Physical Therapy has compiled information for athletes that includes recognizing concussion symptoms and recommended courses of action following a suspected concussion. Click here to read the entire article.
If you have any questions or would like more information about this topic from the Oxford athletic trainer at our Fairfield office at 513-874-1999 or visit us on the web at www.oxfordphysicaltherapy.com
